The ACE curriculum is an American curriculum that has been around for over fifty years. The system creates opportunity for a learner to work in an individualized self-paced manner that embraces discovery learning and mastery learning.
The A.C.E. program provides students with a complete academic structure that includes the following skills; goal setting, reading practice, character building, Biblical integration and values, Mastery based learning, reasoning skills and critical thinking, Computer enhanced learning, Academic excellence, Personalized system of instruction/Individualized learning.
This complete package begins with reading development and progresses through high school, giving students a solid foundation for pursuing their life goals. This results in motivated learners taking ownership of their own progress.
This world-class, end to end education provides solutions that meet best practice academic standards and is designed to include character and wisdom building units for life.
ADMISSION AND REGISTRATION PROCESS
There are number of processes involved while admitting a student at SIS.
A student will have to do a diagnostic test; each student entering the A.C.E. program is given diagnostic or co-ordination tests for kindergarten to determine skill and concept mastery.
The tests assist the evaluator in determining the student's academic needs in each subject.
Study/School hours and Days
Classes begin at 9am; however, students will always be expected to arrive to school by 8:30am. This will allow them ample time to carry out daily devotions for 15minutes as well as do goal check before starting pace work.
School days are Monday to Friday except for days declared as public holidays or mid-term breaks as per the school calendar. During school days regular breaks will be provided as per the school time table.
PACE TO GRADE LEVEL CONVERSION:
The ICCE General Certificate
For this certificate, students must complete the prerequisite material, i.e. level 8, before progressing to level 9. Students should work in the normal A.C.E manner and complete all Paces in a unit sequential order. Coursework may be done alongside the Pace work. Students may add further courses to obtain more credit if they wish. Grade 8 (Prerequisite)-Pace 1085-1096 is compulsory for one to attain this certificate.
The ICCE Intermediate Certificate (Grade 10)
For a student to attain this certificate, he/she must have completed the General Certificate before proceeding to the Intermediate Certificate. Students should work in the normal A.C.E manner and complete all PACEs in a unit in a sequential order and maintain academic balance. At this level we encourage course work to be done alongside the PACE work.
The ICCE Advanced Certificate
Students must have completed the intermediate Certificate before proceeding to this level. A student intending to complete the Advanced Higher certificate should complete PACEs at level 1121-1132.
LIFE ACADEMY AT SIS
The critical need everywhere in the world is for education to prepare students to lead successful, fulfilling lives. In today’s world, this means providing them with relevant educational experiences that nurture their passions, problem-solving abilities, and higher-level thinking skills, including critical thinking and creativity. The best solutions involve teachers, students, schools, and whole communities.
The above clearly explains the need for life academy at SIS. At SIS we have a number of life academy classes but the following deserve mention.
